Naheed devises and delivers In-service sessions for nursery and primary teachers, music teachers and musicians.
Her training sessions are practical and aim to give staff the confidence to incorporate musical activities in their daily setting, whatever their level of experience and knowledge.
Naheed uses a combination of Dalcroze,Kodály and Colourstrings approaches in her training. This reflects her belief that children and adults learn music best when it is experienced through the voice and body.
An important element of Naheed’s work is to inspire teachers and musicians to develop their music leadership skills. She is regularly asked to create bespoke training programmes for local education authorities, arts organisations and individual schools, both in the UK and abroad. Two recent examples of training programmes are:
MMMF – Mumbai, India
Ongoing training with the Mehli Metha Music Foundation in Mumbai, India. Working with their Discover Music Programme teachers to enhance their teaching skills for working with 4-6yr olds and to train new teachers to work with 2-4yr olds.
City Halls - Glasgow
Little Ears, Big Voices
A two year project run by the Education Programme at City Halls. Delivering workshops in pre5 establishments and training nursery staff and trainee music leaders in Glasgow.
